Eat To Promote Health

Eating Is Simplistic: Easy Way to Improve Your Health
Humans have a social and close relationship with food. As such, being selective in choosing foods and the manner in which it is eaten, is an easy way to improve ones health status. There are hundreds of “diets” availabe but plain and simple is a healthy adjunct to obtaining optimal wellness.
• Eat when sitting in a quiet place and plan a day’s menu by asking yourself,
“What does my body need to enhance wellness?”
• Think about what you have a “taste” for and how you might eat these foods or substitute
healthier foods to satisfy your “hunger”.
• When shopping, go to a store where you feel comfortable and relaxed.
• Take time to choose food; smell it, feel it, read the ingredients carefully.
• Prepare the food in a relaxed manner.
• Smell the food, taste a very small bite of it, observe what happens to a fruit or vegetable
when you cut it
• Notice how fresh, alive, uncooked fruits and vegetables look.
• Pause before sitting down to eat, making sure you are relaxed.
• Clear your mind of tension and thought.
• Concentrate on what you are about to eat
• Ask yourself, “Am I hungry?” If you find you are not, ask yourself, “Why am I eating
now?” If you decide to go on eating, ask yourself how you are reacting to the food as you
eat it – are you contented, invigorated, harried, anxious, disappointed, and indifferent?
• Notice the texture, temperature, taste, and smell of the food. Tell yourself, “This food is
going to each cell in my body.” Ask yourself, “Do my body cells need any more of this
particular item?”
• Chew the food well, and notice its sensation against your teeth and gums.
•Notice how fast or slowly you are eating. Adjust your rate so you feel comfortable and
relaxed.
• Keep your mind focused on what you are eating.
