You can tell  Jacquehas a full and very busy schedule so it’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak with her. In addition, Jacque says it‘s more than just news, it’s about real life. We are talking about “real life” and lifestyle behaviors.

JM: Tell us about your background as a journalist.

JR: To begin, I received a BA in Print Journalism from Clark Atlanta University. In order to become more skilled I attended Northwestern University where I obtained a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.

JM: In addition to your work as a journalist on television and radio, tell us about your “real life” as Jacque Reid.

JR:In addition to my work at Jacque Reid Media, I also volunteer for a variety of young women’s organizations, speaking about young ladies’ lifestyle issues at colleges and universities. I am an active member of the Brooklyn Christian Cultural Center and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

JM: Given your active lifestyle and community involvement, when do you find the time to stay physically fit and healthy?

JR: Since I work early mornings, I have to work-out in the afternoon or early evenings, I really get it in on the weekend.

JM: Jacque, if you don’t mind sharing, what does your work-out involve? What are some of your exercise activities?

JR: I try to work-out four to five times a week. This includes cardio, weights and yoga. Yoga also provides strength and resistance training in addition to stretching. It completes the circle of the mind body connection.

JM: How do you balance the exercise with diet?  This means diet in terms of a nutrition plan as opposed to a weight loss plan.

JR: Balancing my exercise with my nutrition plan is relatively easy for me because, first, I don’t eat desserts. Then I am very selective about what I eat. I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan. I try to eat lots of fruits and veggies and very little fried foods.

JM: Are there any tips you’d like to offer to other women business owners who want to be successful in business and have a healthy lifestyle?

JR: Although we talk about having a balanced lifestyle, living in harmony is the key. When work and personal life are more harmonious we are more healthy.

JM: What thoughts would you like to leave with us? What would you like to share about your lifestyle philosophy that others may be beneficial to other women and young ladies?

JR: My favorite words of wisdom are, fame and money can fade. Therefore, make sure you measure your success in life by what really matters.
