Featured ArticleONE CHANGE AT A TIME
Have you reached the stage where you accept the fact that in order to have a lifetime of weight management you have to make some lifestyle changes? Undoubtedly, you are ready to start one change at a time. If you try to make changes too quickly, you can easily become frustrated and start to feel deprived. Coaching for wellness involves change. The change begins after the coaching session as that’s when the planned action steps start.
Changes need to occur over a period of time and at a pace that is comfortable for you. If your plan causes you to feel deprived you might be subject to binge eating or overeating.
So what are some of the areas in which you can consider changing? First, think thin. Your first action could be to learn how to use portion control and still feel satisfied at the end of the meal. Next, consider the time of day you eat. Do you start your day with breakfast? Do you find yourself eating on the run or do you sit down to enjoy what you eat? Are you eating close to your bedtime? These are all areas that you can make changes and, over time, aid your healthy weight management program.
The journey for change should be enjoyable and not one that you find yourself constantly stressing over. Remember the change should be at a pace that doesn’t overwhelm you. If you find yourself on the yo-yo cycle, one week eating healthy and the next week eating a whole pizza and/or a pint of decadent triple chocolate ice cream, it’s a signal to re-evaluate your strategies and/or goals. Reconfirm with yourself what your goals are and the steps required in order to reach your goal for positive changes you desire. Ask yourself, why and what are you trying to achieve?
Often, this process of reevaluating will help you realize that you have set realistic and achievable goals. More importantly, your goals can be achieved with one change at a time! One small step at a time, the kaizen way! Want to use this article in your newsletter or on your website?
