1. Cathy, who are your clients and what is the primary focus of your practice? In other words, what is your niche?
My practice has two tracks. One is focused on the international community, where I am involved in cross-cultural training and coaching for global managers. I work with executives who are going on international assignment, from and to the U.S., and Americans who are repatriating – which is even more challenging than expatriation. I have developed a unique approach to assist my clients in understanding -
~ the role that culture plays in who we are;
~ the impact on our sense of self when we are inserted into another culture;
~ how to stay true to ourselves throughout this experience.
The other track is life coaching, or wellness coaching, where the common thread shared by my clients is the desire to reconnect with their inner voice, and reclaim their power from whatever external authority or value system they unwittingly gave it up to. These two tracks both involve integrating life choices and experiences at the deepest level, that of the true self, so the individual can return to balance, harmony and inner peace.
2. Tell us how you successfully combine your coaching, consultation and reflexology practice?
Most of us in the west live in our heads without realizing it, and do not experience what it means to be in the body, yet all of our experiences are stored there. I felt the desire to offer my clients a physical modality that would jump-start this experience and support the mind-body connection. Reflexology was a natural choice since it induces deep relaxation and supports the body to return to balance. In a relaxed state, the mind can let go and the body is free to divulge its secrets. During a typical reflexology session with me, the body releases whatever information the mind is ready to process, while I “listen” and transmit this information to the client. This becomes the basis for a coaching session. It is gentle, self-directed, and very deep.
3. Are there any tips you’d like to offer coaching and healing arts practitioners who want to be successful in their business?
~ Stay true to yourself and follow your heart.
~ Embrace your gifts and trust that they will lead you to your highest good – there is after all a reason why God gave you your particular gifts.
~ Have a vision for your practice that is yours. When starting out it is natural to want to know what has worked for other people, but I found the less I focused on what others were doing the clearer my path became.
~ Use discernment and take only what serves you from other sources.
~ Ask for abundance and expect it.
4. In concluding, what would you like to share about your coaching philosophy?
It starts with creating sacred space and listening. Each one of us is the expert in our lives, but very few of us experience being fully supported in speaking our truth, which is the first step to manifesting our desires. In this environment, it is safe for my clients to get in touch with their truth, and learn how to self-empower. In “What the Bleep Do We Know.” Candace Pert talks about how we are wired for bliss. Coaching with Love is about removing the obstacles that keep us from our joy.
